Q'EQCHI' COSMOVISION
Our Cacao Tour is an unforgettable experience where you will learn how to make delicious Chocolate in the traditional Mayan way.
You will learn about the Sustainable Agriculture Practices used in our Chocolate making process, as well as the mysticism behind the rich Q'eqchi' Cosmovision and Culture.
And best of all, you can eat the chocolate you make!
WHAT MAKES OUR CACAO TOUR UNIQUE?
01
Reforestation
Selling our Cacao has helped us plant more than 3,000 timber and fruit trees, and more than 60 species to convert degraded pastures into abundant forests.
02
Regenerative Model
We use energy efficient systems such as food forests, perennial polycultures, rainwater harvesting and composting to facilitate nutrient cycling and soil building.
03
Ratzum Cacao Network
We provide safe, well-paid and stable employment to 65+ Qeq'chi' Mayan Families who work with us growing the Cacao we use through the Ratzum Cacao Network.
04
Fair Prices
We pay the families who work with us the highest prices per pound of Cacao in Guatemala, compared to Uncommon Cacao's 2021 Transparency Report.
WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE CACAO TOUR
GUIDED TOUR BY A LOCAL CACAO PRODUCER
Your tour will be guided by the same people who process the cacao and prepare the chocolate, so you can ask all the questions you want and get the answers straight from the source.
EXPLANATION OF REGENERATIVE PRACTICES
You will be able to see our sustainable practices in action and we will explain why they are so important, not only for our community and our environment, but also for the quality of our Cacao.
YOU WILL GET THE OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE YOUR OWN CHOCOLATE
Because the experience wouldn't be complete without being able to make your own chocolate, we'll teach you how to grind cocoa by hand and create your own unique recipe to take home.
